Hi Quinny!
We had such a nice weekend together. This weekend we headed out on two very different kinds of rides. Saturday morning we met up with our friend and neighbor Debbie on our bikes and went on the Doughnut Ride. I pulled you in the copilot kid trailer behind my bike, which made it even more of a workout since you are now 28lbs and no telling how much that copilot weighs. It is OK though cause this mama would like to lose 5-10 lbs anyway.
The OKC Doughnut run is a group of bike riders that get together every Saturday morning and ride about 26 miles. We only did around 10, as it would be difficult to pull you up the big hill near the interstate in that trailer. We may work our way up to it, but for now we meet the riders after they accomplish that feat. About half way through the ride, the whole crew stops off at Brown's Bakery at 1100 N Walker Avenue, for Doughnuts, Coffee and small talk. By what I have been told, the bakery opened shortly after WWII in 1946 in an old bunker-like building. You can tell that it is an old military storage building from its characteristic shape.

Brown's is a local favorite, and you got to enjoy your very first doughnut. I got you a cinnamon and sugar cake doughnut and with each bite you would dance around and say YUM! YUM! YUM! It was too cute. Though I generally don't try to eat doughnuts very often, moderation is everything and it was your first one ever! My heart always smiles when I get to see you try new things. It is like I am living life all over again through your innocent eyes. This is the stuff parenthood is about! It can turn a calloused adult into a kid again!
Speaking of new experiences, Daddy and I also got to watch you take your first Pony ride! Yesterday, the Catholic Church, which is just a few short blocks from our house, was having it's annual Kids Oktoberfest. They have games, bouncy houses, face painting, live bands (consisting of the local teenagers) choo-choo train and pony rides, and of course German fare. We took you last year but you were too little to do much, but wow, what a difference a year makes!
We met Debbie and her boys there after biking over and immediately took you over to the pony ride area. We wanted to get a feel if you would want to ride, or if you were going to be scared before purchasing a wrist band for rides. You took one look and kept pointing at the horses and even were leaning over the rail anxious for your turn. You looked like such a big boy standing there in line, I could have cried when Daddy showed me the picture he snapped of you. By the time your turn came you were ready to go! I strapped you onto a pretty white and brown splotched pony and you immediately got this HUGE smile on your face. Off we went around and around. I did feel sorry for the pony's though...who wants to go in a circle with kids on and off them all day and look at another horses behind all day long! Patient and precious things!
When time was up you cried. You did not want to get off! Thankfully there was a choo-choo to ride next. Well, not so much a choo-choo as a cart car that looks like a choo-choo. (think golf carts all hooked up to each other with an engine in the front and an engineer driving) You love to say 'Choo-Choo right now and kept saying it throughout the entire ride. It was so cute! Again you cried when we had to get off, but luckily the teen-aged band was playing covers of Nirvana and you, being the natural born rocker, started dancing and bobbing your head! Man, it sure does make you feel old when the local teenager bands are playing covers of the music you listened to when you were in school! Nirvana is now classic rock?! Or should I say classic Grunge!
I love when we get to spend a nice eventful weekend together. It makes the workweek go by so much faster when I know that come the weekend I get to spend some quality time with you. We also decorated the outside of the house for Halloween. Just another weekend coming up to look forward too!
XOXOXO
~Mama~
