Toddler Manipulation

Hello Quinn!

Mama here again. This past weekend was fun. Daddy and I got to take you to your first pumpkin patch in Arcadia, OK. Parkhurst Pumpkin Patch.  It is funny to me how you, not even two years old, already slightly understand the concept of manipulation. The trip was in total about 30 minutes, and about 20 minutes into the ride, you start saying "Pee-Pee!" "Pee-Pee!" (Did I tell you just how proud of you I am that you are already potty trained?! You are such my big boy now!)  So,we get daddy to pull over (we brought your frog potty for just such an event) and I get you out of the car seat and sit you down only for you to say "Done!" the second you sit down. Little stinker that you are, you knew that if you said you had to potty that you could get out of your car seat!

So we pile back into the car and the minute you are back in place you start saying, with the most saddest voice ever, "Mama! Poo-Poo!" Now, mind you, that I know you didn't have to go because you had just gone before we left. So, I kept telling you that you just went and that I was onto your game. (Even though I know with potty training, you generally should not ever say that, but what choice did I have since we were in the car!) So we continued on (about another 10 min) and you probably said "Poo-Poo" about a 101 times! You just kept clamoring on about it. Oh, how quickly you learned what phrases will get you attention and out of the car Stat!

We finally rolled in and got you out of the car, of course I then asked if you really had to go, and you said, "NO!" Daddy and I just laughed. Toddler manipulation always cracks me up, but at the same time sometimes frustrates me to no end! Too bad I know that this is only the first of many, many times that you will try to figure out a way to get what you want out of me. I know though that this is normal and means that you are understanding your world, which I have to smile about.

There was plenty to do at the pumpkin patch and you kept yourself busy by petting the various animals and sliding down the hay bale slide over and over again. We didn't get to do the hayride because you got hungry and kept saying "Eat-Eat!" so we headed off to Pops restaurant which is an awesome 50s style diner with over 500 kinds of sodas to pick from. We didn't get soda, but we all shared a milkshake and ice cream sundae.  It was such a nice family outing. I love days when you, daddy and I get to do something fun as a family. I am going to enjoy it now before you are a teenager and want nothing to do with me!

I love you SO very very much Quinn!
XOXOXO
~Mama~
