Update: 36 week apt
Well, no progress here. They did a swab for the bacteria and then checked my cervix but he said it is still thick and closed. I wont know the results of the bacteria screen until next weeks apt. The Doctor said everything looks good though, (his heartbeat, my blood pressure, my urine). I gained only 1 lb this time which he was very happy with but is not so happy with my weight gain over all, since it is now up to 44 lbs according to them. According to our scale it is only 41. He keeps telling me I need to lie down more than I have been, but I don't see how. He was also hinting that I should quit work early, but some people just don't see that it is not an option! He also made me mad today because I told him I had to bring in my birth plan, and he asked what some of the items on it were, and so I reminded him of my natural delivery wants, and no inductions (unless something was wrong etc) and that I wanted to use a birthing ball...well, he told me before I could use it and also that I would not have to be on my back...now this time he seemed to be going back on that saying that he likes to do continuous monitoring and that he doesn't know how well that will work in some of those positions, and depending on if I get an epidural it will depend on if I can even be in other positions... I reminded him that I was not planning on getting an epidural and that I did not want to be strapped to the bed. I then told him that in the birthing class the hospital told us we can use the squat bars on the bed and be turned around or however if we did not get an epidural! He was like, I haven't seen those used in a very long time. I then told him that I wanted that option should I want to use them. So, this should be fun (not). I fear Erik, Kelly and I will have to fight for what I want. This is what I had feared because it is "easier" for the doctor if you just go with the normal flow of drugs etc, but that is not what I want!!! He seemed so much more open last time we talked about this. All I know is he better be more open because unless Quinn or I am in danger I want this to go as natural as possible. I also reminded him that I wanted to progress as much as possible at home, he said that was fine, but if I had contractions that were 5 min apart for 2 hours to come in and then they would check me. He said then, if I wasn't far along, like only 2 cm, then they would let me go back home for a while. I just hate that so little number of women do it natural anymore, so that now if you want to do it natural they fight you.

Can you believe you are only ONE week away from being full term?! It's nuts!! I'm really sorry things aren't going well with your Dr. The most important thing to remember is that this is YOUR delivery and you should be able to call the shots. If the Dr. is not willing to support you, you can always find someone else! It's not too late!
ReplyDeleteThanks Dez! I know...I am in SHOCK that in one week I will be full term...crazy! I am really starting to hope that he arrives before Christmas!
